2018 USATF National Masters Indoor Championship

Landover, Maryland - 
Minnesota Masters track & field athlete's wrapped up a busy three days of competition at the USATF National Masters Indoor Track & Field Championship last weekend. At least eleven Minnesota athletes competed with three coming home with gold medals. Kara Parker, W45, representing Run MN won the 3000m, Chad Blank, M30, representing Park Flyers Track & Field won the shot put and Will Loew-Blosser, M65, representing Twin Cities Race Walkers won the 1500m Race Walk.

Most of the athletes competed in multiple events. Parker also finished 3rd in both the W45 1500m and 800m races while Blank finished 2nd in both the Weight Throw and Super Weight Throw events. 

Patrick Billig, also of Run MN, finished 2nd behind Olympian Steve Spence in the M55 3000m in a large field of 20 runners. Billig took the lead only to give it up to Spence in the last few laps. Billig also finished 2nd in a strong M55 1500m field.

Susan Loyd brought home bronze in the W60 400m, finished 5th in the 60m and 7th in the 200m, which was a thrill for her after returning back from injuries over the past year. Jim Schoffman competed in four events, narrowly missing finals in the M60 60m and 200m, but finished 6th in the 400m and 10th in the 200m as he continues to rebuild strength after his cancer treatments.
